“A new biodegradable plastic made from soy protein is set to hit the market by the end of this year. When composted, the nontoxic soy plastic completely degrades within 90 days, according to developer Jay-lin Jane, food scientist, Iowa State University at Ames. Soy Works, Woodridge, IL, the company that licensed the rights to the plastic in 1998, will enter the market with novelty golf tees in December and introduce other products next year…”
